Colour & occasion

Colour and occasion are Etsy listing properties that help buyers filter and discover your item — shoppers browsing for a “red” “wedding” gift, for example. SKUvio makes these easy and mistake-proof by offering only the values Etsy actually accepts for your specific category.

Options come from your category

Etsy allows a different set of colour and occasion values for each category. So the moment you pick a category in the Configure modal, SKUvio loads that category’s real colour and occasion values live from Etsy and shows exactly those.

A confetti listing, for instance, exposes a different occasion set than a candle listing. Because the choices come straight from Etsy’s own per-category properties, you can only ever pick a value Etsy supports — there’s no way to choose something it will reject. See Etsy category & taxonomy for choosing the category itself.

If you change the category later, the colour and occasion options refresh to match the new one.

Primary and secondary colour

You can set a primary colour and, independently, a secondary colour:

  • Both are optional — leave them blank if colour doesn’t apply to your item.
  • The secondary colour is independent of the primary, so you can set one, both, or neither.
  • Where your Shopify product already carries colour information, SKUvio can prefill the colour for you, which you can then adjust.

Occasion

Pick a single occasion from the values valid for your category — for example a gifting or seasonal occasion. As with colour, only Etsy’s supported options for that category are offered.

Set independently, saved safely

Colour and occasion are each sent to Etsy independently, so if one doesn’t apply or isn’t set, it won’t hold up the rest of your export. SKUvio stores your choices by Etsy’s own internal value, not the display label, so your selections stay correct even when a listing is shown in another language.
