The auto-pause guard

The auto-pause guard keeps SKUvio from ever exhausting your daily Etsy allowance. It watches your quota and steps back automatically when things get tight, then comes back on its own once there’s room again — no action needed from you at any point.

How it protects you

When your remaining Etsy quota falls to around 10%, the guard pauses background syncing so SKUvio doesn’t push you into Etsy’s rate limits. Getting rate-limited by Etsy is disruptive and takes time to clear; pausing a little early avoids it entirely. Your data is safe and nothing is lost — syncing simply waits its turn.

Automatic resume

As your rolling daily allowance recovers past roughly 30% remaining, the guard resumes syncing on its own. Leaving a comfortable gap between the pause point (10%) and the resume point (30%) means SKUvio doesn’t flip back and forth on the edge of the limit — it waits for a real cushion before picking back up. You don’t have to remember to switch anything on.

Your pauses are respected

There’s an important distinction the guard makes. When it pauses syncing to protect your quota, it’s also the thing that lifts that pause automatically. But if you pause syncing yourself — from the Sync Controls page — the guard leaves that alone. An operator-initiated pause stays paused until you resume it. The guard never quietly switches your own decisions back on.

Staying in control

The guard is on by default and works quietly in the background — for most sellers it never has anything to do, because normal syncing stays well clear of the limit. If quota ever does run low, the guard would rather briefly pause than risk your shop being throttled, so it’s built to fail safe. You can always see its current state and the live Etsy quota meter on your dashboard, so it’s clear at a glance whether SKUvio is syncing normally or briefly paused to protect your quota.
